Guilty of Stereotyping

Did you know not all vagrants are homeless?  And did you know not all homeless people look like vagrants?  Allow me to share what I discovered while doing an assignment for Photo Journalism last semester.

Some beg on the sidewalk.

The Gate Keeper

Some live in communities.






Communal Life

Some sleep on benches or under trees.




A senior citizen


Looking for hope

What disturbed me most was the plight of many senior citizens who  seek refuge in shelters at nights but are forced to face the streets by day carrying with them all their worldly possessions.


The Shame


Upright, holding on to his dignity a senior citizen sleeps.


Nothing to do but wait.



Sharing a drink on the Promenade


Socializing


Waiting for night fall.


What do you think should be done about the problem of homelessness?
