Gruesome Massacre

Guyana - Eleven persons including five children slaughtered in Lusignan as gunmen went on a rampage early Saturday morning.  The gruesome images of a woman and  two children murdered in their sleep published on Kaieteur News (warning the images are disturbing) sent shock waves throughout the region with the international community voicing its condemnation of the heinous acts.

President Bharrat Jagedeo described the atrocity as not the work of human beings, but animals.

Villagers took to the streets in protest burning tyres and blocking the main roads.

I wept openly for the dead and for the living as the images further drive home the fact that these are human beings and not mere statistics you put on a chart.

Gangsters brass-face in their attack on innocent lives, respecting neither man, woman nor child unleashed vengeance on this sleeping village.
